Two former KAS Eupen players won major international titles last weekend. Akram Afiff scored three penalties to lead the Qatar team to another Asian Championship win in a 3-1 victory over Jordan. Under head coach Bartolomé Tintín Márquez, who was coach of KAS Eupen from 2012 to 2015, the coaching staff of the Asian champions also includes Eupen’s long-serving goalkeeping coach Javier Ruiz and former team captain Luis Garcia as assistant coach.

Lazare Amani, who played for KAS Eupen from 2016 to the beginning of 2020, became African champion with the Ivory Coast national team after a 2:1 victory over Nigeria.

In the 2017-2018 season, Luis Garcia, Akram Afif and Lazare Amani were on the pitch together and played for KAS Eupen.
