As early as the 3rd minute, Igor Plastun headed home from a corner to give the Pandas a 1–0 lead at the Kehrwegstadion in front of 1,592 spectators. Ten minutes later, Jong Genk equalised to make it 1–1.

In the 62nd minute, Yentl Van Genechten restored KAS Eupen’s lead. The 2–1 goal also came from a corner taken by Logan Delaurier-Chabet. Just four minutes later, Chris-Kévin Nadje, who had come on at half-time, extended the lead to 3–1. Sandro Vidigal scored the fourth goal in the 84th minute. The Portuguese player had also come on as a substitute in the 46th minute.

On matchday 2, KAS Eupen will play away at SK Lokeren this coming Friday, 21 August, at 8.00 pm.
