Our Ecological Responsibility

Sustainability begins at home – and for us, right in the heart of nature.

As a football club located in the unique landscape on the edge of the High Fens, KAS Eupen bears not only sporting but also ecological responsibility. Protecting our natural environment is far more than just a symbol for us – it is a lived conviction and part of our club identity.

Together for Sustainable Future

Since the 2024/25 season, we have been part of the Pro League’s “Ecological Sustainability” pilot group – alongside KAA Gent, Standard Liège, Oud-Heverlee Leuven, and KV Mechelen. The goal of this initiative is to make the ecological footprint of all Belgian professional clubs visible – and to significantly reduce it through targeted measures.

In the first step, we conducted a comprehensive materiality analysis to identify where our need for action is greatest. The result: waste management, energy consumption, and water usage are our main focus. Based on this, we have developed a clear action plan that is now being implemented step by step.

First Successes – Concrete Measures

We don’t rely on empty promises but on visible changes. Already implemented measures include:

  • Reusable cups instead of single-use plastic in stadium operations
  • Systematic waste separation on match days and in everyday club life
  • Annual participation in the regional environmental action “Le Grand Nettoyage”
  • Installation of water dispensers to use tap water instead of bottled water

Sustainability with Vision

For us, ecological sustainability is not a short-term trend but an integral part of our identity – on and off the pitch. With every measure, every match day, and every small step, we contribute to:

  • Protecting our environment
  • A livable region
  • A responsible future for football
