With Souleymane Aw and Abdul Manaf Nurudeen, two KAS Eupen players started at the beginning of February in the final round of the Africa Cup for U20 teams. This tournament is held in Niger and involves the 8 best teams of the continent. The competition is also considered a qualification for the U20 World Championship in Poland.
KAS goalkeeper Abdul Manaf Nurudeen has played the three group games for Ghana. His team won their first group match against Burkina Faso 2-0, but then suffered two defeats against Senegal (2-0) and Mali (1-0). Ending up in third place in the group, Ghana missed both their place in the semi-finals and qualifying for the World Cup.
Defender Souleymane Aw has qualified with Senegal’s U-20 national team for the 2019 FIFA World Cup in Poland and will face South Africa in the semi-finals of the Africa Cup on Wednesday. Souleymane Aw also played all three games in the group stage and celebrated three victories with his team: 2-0 against Mali, 2-0 against Ghana and 5-1 against Burkina Faso. Senegal won the group with 9 points ahead of Mali and Ghana.
