KAS physical coach Thibaut Meyer at congress in Doha

Experts and prominent representatives of the international football scene and employees of football clubs took part in the ‘Aspire Global Summit’ from 7 to 9 October in Doha, the capital of Qatar. A total of 50 clubs and federations from all continents were represented at the congress. They all belong to the “Aspire in the World Fellows” network created in 2014. After Paris (2014), Berlin (2015), Amsterdam (2016) and London (2017), the Global Summit was held for the first time at the headquarters of the Aspire Academy in Doha. KAS Eupen was represented by its physical coach Thibaut Meyer.

At the ‘Global Summit – Football Performance and Science’ of the Aspire Academy, the focus was put on the best possible promotion of young football players this time. It was about the regeneration and development of the growing players and the understanding of the game. The congress participants followed the talks with internationally renowned football experts such as Tottenham coach Mauricio Pochettino, the Qatari national coach Felix Sanchez and the former Argentine national player Hernan Crespo with great interest.

After his return from Doha, Thibaut Meyer expressed his enthusiasm for the event at the headquarters of the Aspire Academy. “Since I only joined KAS Eupen after the winter training camp, it was my first visit to the Aspire Academy. I am very impressed by this magnificent sports facility and the now officially opened performance centre of the Qatari Football Association. It was a great experience for me to meet many professional colleagues and competent people of the international football scene and to discuss with them. What is also interesting is that the exchange will be continued after the end of the congress via various platforms, thus ensuring the continuity of this ongoing training.”
