KAS Eupen has signed the best goal scorer of Division 1B: Portuguese Leonardo Rocha joins KAS Eupen from Lommel SK. Leonardo Rocha played 33 games for Lommel SK in championship and cup last season and scored 21 goals. In the classic phase of the championship, Leonardo Rocha scored 16 goals and provided 4 assists. This made the new KAS Eupen striker the best scorer in the Proximus League.
Leonardo Rocha celebrated his 22nd birthday on 23 May. He is 1.96 meters tall and Portuguese with Brazilian roots. As a teenager he played in Portugal and Brazil. From 2015 to 2017 he played for the U19 and the B-Team of AS Monaco alongside the later World Champion Kylian Mbappé. Via Vicenza, CD Léganes B and FC Ontinyent, Leonardo Rocha joined Lommel SK in summer 2018 and attracted the interest of several clubs with his goals. Leonardo Rocha has signed a three-year contract with KAS Eupen until June 30, 2022.
Leonardo Rocha is already the 9th newcomer of KAS Eupen. KAS Director General Christoph Henkel is pleased about the commitment of the Portuguese center forward. “As a 21-year-old and newcomer to the Proximus League, Leonardo Rocha immediately became top scorer in Division 1B, which is quite an accomplishment. This put him on the wish list of several clubs. Of course we are very happy that Leonardo Rocha has opted for KAS Eupen. With his size and his scoring abilities, Leonardo Rocha represents a further reinforcement of our attack. We look forward to working with him and keep our fingers crossed for Leonardo that he will also score numerous goals for KAS Eupen.”
