KAS Eupen has now completed its seventh transfer and signed Cheick Keita to bolster the midfield and the left flank in terms of defence. The Malian is 22 years old and played last season for Italian first division side FC Bologna. KAS Eupen has loaned Cheick Keita from English club Birmingham City for one year.
Cheick Keita was born in Paris on 16th April 1996. From the U19 squad of AS Monaco, he moved first to Italian second division club Vitus Entella and then to Birmingham City. The English club loaned Cheick Keita to Italian first division club FC Bologna last summer.
Cheick is 1.80m tall, left-footed, very fast and technically gifted. He can play on the left side in defence as well as in midfield.
KAS Eupen Managing Director Christoph Henkel is delighted with the new addition from the Italian first division. “Cheick Keita is a very athletic defender who can also go on the attack. He will help secure our defence and speed up our game and is another reinforcement for KAS Eupen. We are very happy that he has chosen KAS Eupen and we welcome him warmly to the team and to the club.”
