Next season, KAS Eupen will form a U7 team for the first time. The goal is to promote the talents of children of the right age early to the opportunities of a professional club. From the summer of 2018, the children of KAS Eupen’s U7 team will be trained twice a week by competent instructors and play a match against clubs from the province of Liège at the weekend.
The U7 team is being set up in close collaboration with FC Eupen, which has long experience supporting its U6 and U7 teams. All talented children born in 2011 and 2012 with an interest in playing football are invited to a non-binding public trial at the grounds of the Kehrweg Stadium on Wednesday, 21st March.
For Nicolas Collubry, the sports director of the U8 to U16 teams at KAS Eupen, the creation of a U7 team represents an opportunity both from the perspective of KAS Eupen as well as from the point of view of young football players: “With the creation of a U7 team, we want to create the basis for the transition to the elite class, which starts with the U9 team. We have excellent coaches who can promote the talent of 6-year-old football players from Eupen and the neighbouring region in an optimal and child-friendly way. Within the football playing community of KAS and FC Eupen, it goes without saying that we will also be working closely with our partner club FC Eupen to create the U7 team – FC Eupen has valuable experience taking care of teams below the U8 level.”
Registration for the trial is via the registration form under the menu tab Youth on KAS Eupen’s homepage www.as-eupen.be
