Those attending the U21 match between KAS Eupen and KAA Gent witnessed a hectic game played at very high speed. Eupen got off to a strong start but had two very good chances from Moussa Diallo thwarted by the superb goalkeeper from Gent. Gent broke the deadlock and opened the scoring (0-1 in the 21st minute). After a defensive error by KAS, Gent managed to double its lead (0-2 in the 37th minute).
The teams went in at halftime at 0-2.
In the second half, Eupen made every effort to reduce the deficit and managed to claw one back through an own goal by the guests (1-2 in the 63rd minute). Nerves then started to dictate the match and the referee showed four yellow cards to KAA Gent players. The Buffalos scored a third goal from a counter attack during stoppage time (1-3 in the 91st minute). But KAS Eupen were able to respond again and Nicolas Cubedo scored the last goal of the game with a fantastic shot (2-3 in the 92nd minute). Unfortunately, the extra goal came too late and KAS Eupen’s U21 team fell to its first home defeat of the season to the tune of 2-3 against KAA Gent.
