As organizer of the 2022 Football World Cup in Qatar, the responsible committee, among others, started the project “Generation Amazing”. With Generation Amazing, the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy has initiated and supported social and humanitarian activities since 2010. Incorporating the theme of “football”, projects involving refugees, integration and inclusion as well as health and the environment are initiated in Asia, Africa, South America and Europe. After Leeds United, Eupen is the second Generation Amazing project in Europe.
KAS Eupen is pleased to be a partner of Generation Amazing and will launch its first tangible project next Saturday. With the support of the city of Eupen, its street workers and the Institute Belle Vue, KAS Eupen invites to the first training of team Integration. Refugees who have been living in Eupen and the surrounding area for a longer period of time and newly arrived residents between 15 and 25 years of age are invited to join in the training and meet other teams from all over Belgium.
As part of its vision #more than football#, KAS Eupen offers the players of team Integration the opportunity to do sports together, make contacts and thus integrate into the city and the region through weekly training.
The first meeting will take place on Saturday at 16:00 on the artificial turf pitch of the Kehrweg Stadium. Both, employees of Generation Amazing and former KAS coach Claude Makele are expected at the kick-off event. Claude Makelele is KAS Eupen ambassador for Generation Amazing and will support the young people of the Eupen team Integration with his presence and tips.
KAS Eupen will present its Generation Amazing project to the press and thus to the public on Saturday before the start of the championship game against Zulte Waregem. A video about Generation Amazing will be shown on the scoreboard for the spectators in the stadium. The kick-off for the Pro League match between KAS Eupen and Zulte Waregem will be given by a player from team Integration.
